Mediterranean Diet

Scientists have been trying to determine why the Mediterranean Sea inhabitants have less heart disease and cancer thus live longer than Europeans and Americans. Although the food habits of the 16 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea vary according to ethnic background, culture and religion, they have a number of common characteristics:

  • High consumption of fruits, vegetables, potatoes, beans, nuts, seeds, bread and other cereals
  • High usage of olive oil in cooking, sauces and dressings
  • Moderate consumption of fish, dairy and poultry
  • Low levels of red meat
  • Moderate consumption of wine, usually with meals

This “Mediterranean Diet” is thought to be healthier because it contains higher levels of certain fats (mono-saturated and omega-3 polyunsaturated), potent antioxidants, and complex carbohydrates.

Using the proper ingredients and a little imagination, the Mediterranean Diet can be very tasty. To help you achieve a great meal, Med-Diet offers a wide range of products - from high quality ingredients to ready-to-eat meals.

Let us improve your diet with our many products that meet the Mediterranean Diet guidelines.
